For the majority of our Big Trip, we decided to move to New Zealand for 9 months. Why that long? When we decided to take a year off, we weren't that psyched about spending the whole year globe hopping mostly because: 1) we have a toddler in tow and 2) we were really looking forward to some down time after a pretty hectic last year. Why that short? It's the longest that we can stay in NZ on a visitors visa.
